Lions Brass 4 Youth is North Somersets County Youth Brass Band, for young, improving brass musicians. The entry standard is flexible, but dependant on instrument runs at approximately Grade 2/3Formed in September 2008, and based in Clevedon, North Somerset, it provides the only opportunity in the county, and beyond, for young people aged 18 and under to- improve- perform- and have fun making music in a full youth Brass BandAn entirely independent organisation, the Band is a project of Lions Clubs 105SW, which provides support from Lions clubs throughout the South West of England. Additionally it is affiliated to the North Somerset Centre for Young Musicians, operated by the County Music Service.The young people of Lions Brass 4 Youth have established a strong reputation for the quality of their music. They have performed in a wide range of concert venues throughout the County and beyond, and present concerts where the emphasis is always on fun and entertainment.

Saturday 3rd DecemberLions Brass 4 Youth concert at the Princess Hall in Burnham-on-sea, tickets avaliable from Burnham Lions Club or avaliable Sunday 5th February 2012 Lions Brass 4 Youth is going to enter the Gloucestershire Entertainment contest. This will be the first time the band has competed so we are very much looking forward to it Saturday 3rd March 2012Lions Brass 4 Youth will be having it's annual trip to play for the Lions District 105SW convention in Torquey Friday 18th May 2012Concert in Nailsea School for Nailsea and Backwell Rotary Club, for tickets please click on ‘contact us’ tab.

BursaryLions Brass 4 Youth is currently trying to establish a bursary fund, which will provide free instruments and tuition to Primary school children who otherwise could not afford themTuition will be offered in groups of 4, on ‘endangered’ Brass Band instruments – Tenor Horn & Baritone Horn (with progression on to Euphonium)A bursary pilot is under way at St Joseph’s Primary School.

CostsA monthly subscription is charged to all members:First child £7Family membership (2 or more children) £12For the first child, this equates to approximately £2 per session, which includes- venue costs- musical direction/teaching- music- organisationThe subscription is payable by Bankers Standing OrderIdeally each band member should be able to provide their own instrument, although this can be negotiable as individual circumstances vary.
Child Protection1) All adults directly involved with the management of the band to be CRB checked.2) Always at least 2 adults to be in charge of the children at all times and when females are present one of these must be a female3) All parents to sign consent forms and medical information forms4) No children to be taken from the band room by members of the band management committee without the written consent of the parents or guardians.5) All children under 15 to be collected from the band room by their parent or guardian and a member of the band management committee to remain on site with any child not collected until the parent or guardian can be contacted.6) Contact numbers for parents to be kept at the band room7) A designated first aider to be present at all times.8) Fair and equal opportunities for all children involved and sensitivity to Race, Religion, Learning difficulties, Disabilities etc.9) No tolerance policy on Bullying.
